Vitagrow and ZFC bringing Hydroponics to Zimbabwe

Nutrition is one of the most significant costs involved in any agricultural venture, with hydroponics being no exception.

Nutrition is one of the most significant costs involved in any agricultural venture, with hydroponics being no exception.

Infact, the reduction in labour costs means nutrition occupies a larger part of the cost pie.

This cost is further increased because of the import logistics needed to land them in Harare, due to a lack of local manufacturers.

This conundrum, however, is about to be a thing of the past!

ZFC, the leading brand in fertilisers and agri-chemicals in Zimbabwe, after believing in our vision to revolutionise Urban Agriculture, has partnered up with our research and development department to develop hydroponic nutrients made in Zimbabwe, for Zimbabwean growers.

Our teams are currently working hand in glove to formulate and develop a nutrient solution that gives us the same (or even better!) results for our crops, while reducing costs and supporting our local value chain.

Our current trial is comparing the performance of the first prototype formulation developed by the talented chemists at ZFC, with our imported batch.

The results from this initial trial will give us a much needed starting point to build up to.

We also had the pleasure of exhibiting with them at the ADMA Agri-show and engage with plenty of urban farmers excited at the prospect of affordable locally produced nutrients. You can read more about that here.

The first hydroponic nutrients made by zimbabweans for zimbabweans are on their way. We can’t wait to bring them to you!
