Since ancient times, growing food has been the source of livelihood for people across all cultures and creeds. Communities were built around farms, meaning fresh, high-quality sustenance was available to all; the farmer, their family and their friends. Healthy eating was the rule rather than the exception.
As society evolved, however, we moved further and further away from our farms. Farmers were forced to adapt, developing crops that could survive long trips into the city and long stays on the shelf, all the while sacrificing flavour and nutrition
At Vitagrow, we yearn for a return for the days of old. The days where our food was produced within the community, for the community. Where consumers had a greater say in what was grown and how it was grown. With hydroponic technology, that yearning has become a reality.
We are now able to democratise access to healthy, nutritious and flavourful food.
With the versatility and adaptability offered by hydroponic technology, we are now able to democratise access to healthy, nutritious and flavourful food. Our philosophy of using locally sourced materials and inputs also drives the costs of hydroponic infrastructure down.
As low as these costs may be, however, they are still not accessible to all. Thus, Vitagrow Empower was born to equip those from all walks of life with the means to grow without needing access to vast amounts of fertile land.
Vitagrow Empower was born to equip those from all walks of life with the means to grow without needing access to vast amounts of fertile land.
In partnership with UNICEF and Hivos, Vitagrow Empower will launch its first project, in which we will train vibrant and innovative youths to construct and run hydroponic systems at their schools, supplying themselves, their families and friends with fresh flavourful produce.
